Turning

At Profin H.D. we utilise both manual and C.N.C. lathes to deliver precision and speed for cylindrical components. Our turning capabilities allow for the production of parts with complex geometries and exceptional surface finishes.

For components outside of these dimensions we have a range of trusted of manufacturing partners that we regularly use to produce components and assemblies. This includes live tooling, dual spindle and swiss turning style technologies.

3D Printing Services

As leaders in product development, we embrace the versatility of 3D printing to create prototypes and functional parts with unmatched speed and flexibility. Our suite of 3D printing technologies includes:

  1. Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM):
    FDM is perfect for functional prototypes and end-use parts. It allows for rapid iterations and is compatible with durable thermoplastics like ABS, Polycarbonate, PLA, PETG and materials infused with materials such as Carbon Fibre for added strength and durability. We can also provide 3d Printed stainless steel components utilising BASF 316 and 17-4 stainless steel filaments. FDM is a relatively low cost option that is great for producing a physical prototypes and negating the need for fixtures during multi operation machining processes, this means that you can produce multiple revisions cost effectively. We can even machine finish critical features to ensure accuracy.
  2. Digital Light Processing (DLP):
    DLP technology offers high-resolution printing ideal for detailed components and intricate designs, often with difficult or impossible to machine geometry. DLP has superrior accuracy to FDM and is better suited to smaller components. We tend to use DLP to verify small parts when fit and accuracy are critical as the DLP has a superior resolution to FDM.
  3. Multi Jet Fusion (MJF):
    MJF is renowned for producing robust and high-quality parts. It’s ideal for applications requiring high mechanical strength down to just 1mm thick and excellent temperature resistance using PA12 Nylon. Multi Jet Fusion also has a number of finishing options including vibration polishing and dyeing.

Cutting Technologies

We have a trusted manufacturing partner that we use to produce profiles before machine finishing them to the desired geometry. Options include:

  • Water Jet cutting at 50,000 psi for processing materials including tool steels up to 200mm thick. Water Jet has advantages over Plasma and Laser Cutting in that it lease no burnt/hardened edges and is a greener option as it creates no gasses and does not require any heat.
