FAQ
Here are a list of F.A.Q.’s, if you can’t find the answer you are looking for please get in touch using the above details or contact form.
Where is Profin H.D. based and can I make an appointment?
We currently reside at Strawberry Fields Digital Hub in Chorley, Lancashire. We would welcome an opportunity to meet you either via Microsoft Teams or face to face if you prefer. If you would like to book an appointment please get in touch using the form above. No matter where you are in the world, Profin H.D. can help with all of your product development needs.
At present I only have an idea but no designs, can Profin H.D. help?
Absolutely! We are completely flexible in our approach and we can assist right from conception, to prototyping and all the way to the completion of a project and manufacture. We can also work on an adhoc basis if you just need assitance with a particular issue.
If I need a prototype can you make it for me?
No problem, Profin H.D. owns both C.N.C and manual machinery, aswell as numerous 3d printers utilising the latest technology. If you already have a design and want a physical protoype read more about how we can assist here.
I have a hand drawing but I am unable to create a digital drawing or 3d model can you help and is this worth doing?
We can help and the fact is better drawings often equal better quotes from manufacturers. If the instructions aren’t clear or presented in a way that is for example machinist friendly they you may find your quotes are higher. The aim of any drawing should be to make sure that your chosen manufacturer can quote quickly with confidence and that they don’t need any additional information. Above all an understanding of the manufacturing process is essential to ensuring that your design can not only be made, but that it can be in the most cost effective way.
Can you help with manufacturing and when should I start thinking about this?
Manufacturing is all part of what we do. If you need a product we can make it in house or give you the option to outsource, we strive to be competative but you are never tied in with us. If manufacturing is the end goal, then this needs to be in everyone’s sights right from the start to ensure that quality, consistency and cost efficiency are maintained.
Who owns the intellectual property of anything that you help my oraganisation to develop?
You will retain 100% of the intellectual property rights in respect of anything that we develop on your behalf. We take the protection of your intellectual property rights very serviously and will sign a Non Disclosure Agreement with you before working with you.
What is product visualisation and how will it help?
With product visualisation we can provide a 3d model of your product using C.A.D. software. This is an excellent step to ensuring that your product looks the way you want before you commit to any costs in terms of prototyping or manufacture. A 3d render can look very realistic as we can apply textures to geometry such as wood, metals, plastics and even lighting. It isn’t always obvious but many of today’s brands use renders for their catalogues, it is often faster and more cost effective than staging an entire photo shoot and paying for photography. A render can be used your eyes only or maybe making a pitch to an investor?
